Jobs with Justice (JwJ) is the only labor-community coalition working for economic justice in Central Oregon. Started in 2003, we are a coalition of 21 labor, community and human rights groups working together to promote workers’ rights and social justice in Central Oregon. It is one of over 43 JwJ coalitions in 29 states.
Central Oregon JwJ is a highly-respected coalition that raises economic justice issues and mobilizes people into action in support of workers’ rights, living wage jobs, union organizing and contract campaigns, tenant rights, and the rights of Latino and immigrant workers—a growing sector of our local economy—who face special problems because of racism and discrimination.
We build grassroots support for campaigns and issues through an ever-growing volunteer network of pledge signers. When you Take the Pledge you are automatically connected with the work we do, and can help others win their struggles for social and economic justice. Hundreds of Central Oregon residents have signed the Jobs with Justice pledge to “Be There” at least five times a year for someone else’s struggle as well as their own.
As a coalition of diverse groups, our task is to build the broadest possible movement for economic and social justice. Our allies in the unions, Human Dignity Coalition, Our Community First, Latino Community Association, PFLAG, Central Oregon Peace Network, Central Oregon Coalition for Access, Basic Rights Oregon, and other groups know that JwJ can and will mobilize people to defend their rights. They all know that we can get people out to support their causes—and we are proud to do so!
